Research interests

Professor Anna Duszak’s major research interests were linguistics and the theory of cross-cultural communication. At the beginning it was grammar (especially grammatical models on cognitive-functional foundations) and their use in English-Polish contrastive studies. From discourse grammars she went on to text linguistics and pragmatics. At the final stage of her scientific career, Professor Duszak was primarily interested in discourse analysis and interdisciplinary discourse studies, investigating interfaces between linguistic and social analyses. The scope of her research covered elements of pragmatics, interactive sociolinguistics, anthropological linguistics, contrastive rhetoric, (comparative) genre analysis, as well critical linguistics (critical discourse analysis, social semiotics, models of multi-modal text analysis).
