PhD Proposals

I am interested in supervising Ph.D. level work in the area of (critical) discourse analysis and cross-cultural (cross-linguistic) communication. My priorities rest in the relations between language (text) and context: how linguistic phenomena (and processes) correlate with social (cultural, historical, domain-specific, etc.) dimensions of social practices and realities. Potential tasks for doctoral research could include topics such as: the linguistic (discursive) construction (negotiation, contestation) of social identities, self-other (us-them) relations, generational difference, power struggle, social asymmetry in communication, and the like.
